Hi there! My name is Sam Rudnick. I am a rising third-year student at University of Wisconsin-Madison. I am pursuing a B.S. in Mathematics and Data Science. I grew up in the Bay Area and graduated from Marin Academy in June 2020.
I can cover material from the following courses, standard or honors:
- Algebra I
- Algebra II
- Geometry
- Precalculus/Trigonometry
- Calculus AB
- Calculus BC
I have taken advanced coursework in mathematics, including linear and abstract algebra, as well as high level math intensive physics classes.
Additionally, I took three chemistry courses throughout my 4 years of high school, as well as Electrical Engineering and CompSci elective. While I do not primarily offer tutoring for these, I am happy to offer help in them as a secondary subject.
My ACT score in Math was a 35/36 (1590 SAT).
One of the reasons I want to help students with math is that I started out my education hating it. My teachers, although well-intentioned, were not able to teach to my style of learning. My experience in math was mostly one of boredom and procrastination. Then I got to high school, where I took a geometry honors course. That’s when everything changed. I learned that math could not only be stimulating, but intellectually compelling and even fun. I learned that math lives behind practically everything we do in the world, and ultimately, I learned to love it.
I have spent the last several years tutoring students and dedicating myself to showing them how math can be fascinating, fun and mind bending — or at the very least, conquerable and satisfying.
Because I enjoy out-of-the box learning and thinking, I use a variety of tools to teach. Over time, I have learned how important it is to understand each student’s learning style and I shape my teaching around that.
